The Allure of Coloring is a way to experience The Allure of Matter: Material Art from China from the comfort of your living room.

This week’s coloring page features one of Liu Jianhua’s characteristic porcelain works.

The coloring sheet was drawn by artist and museum educator Erik L. Peterson. “Blank Paper is one of the most understated and wonderful artworks in the show,” says Erik. “Three blank pieces of paper seem to be affixed to the wall; the lower corners of the paper are slightly raised as if being blown lightly by the museum’s air conditioning. If you look a little closer you notice that these ‘pieces of paper’ are actually made from another material entirely, glazed porcelain. Feel free to color the wall behind these pieces of ‘paper’ and leave them white, or let your imagination run wild and color them in fantastic colors and your own designs!”
